Family Vision

Mike and I have been talking about a family vision for our family.  What is our vision for our family?  Our marriage? Our children?  What do have hope to see happen in the next 10 years?  What are our values?

Recently I was really pondering those questions.  I know that a huge part of our vision in our marriage/family has been to welcome children, in His timing.  Many of the other choices we have made are grounded in this choice.  As I thought about our choice in trusting the Lord with our family size, the Lord brought to mind Psalm 128.  I read and reread that Psalm.  I felt that I should really meditate on those verses.  A couple days after I started reading that Psalm, I was listening to an cd I grabbed from the shelf called, "The Family Table."  (I was interested in the title and had some free time while driving.)  Guess what scripture the narrator was focusing on?  Psalm 128!  I knew that the Lord was confirming that we should meditate on Psalm 128 and that it should be part of our family vision.   We still haven't completely spelled out our vision; we are working on it.  But as we do, it is so comforting to know that the Lord is leading us!

Psalm 128

Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways.
You will eat the fruit of your labor, blessing and prosperity will be yours.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.
Thus is the man blessed who fears the Lord.
May the Lord bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem, and may you live to see your children's children.
Peace be upon Israel.
